Overview

Eyelid reduction surgery will vary depending on the individual’s physical features and the amount of skin and fat to be removed from the area. Wherever possible, incisions are made along natural lines, so that scars are less visible. Following the removal of fat and excess skin, the incisions are closed using a fine suture. The surgery can be undertaken under either a local or a general anaesthetic and when undertaken alone is usually a day case procedure. It usually takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

With aging, upper eyelid skin and muscle may stretch and fatty bulges develop. The excess skin can lead to wrinkling and render makeup application difficult. Some patients may also experience a hooding effect, where the upper eyelid skin fold sits on the lash margin and can partially occlude the vision. A successful Eyelid Reduction can give you a youthful and relaxed appearance. Excess fat will be removed and creases in the eyelids improved.
